Powerful winds cause tragic death at Notre Dame football practice

According to ESPN (see the report here) 20-year-old Declan Sullivan died today when the structure he was filming Notre Dame football practice from toppled over. It is believed the gusting winds, which were reported to be as powerful as 50 miles per hour, were the cause of the tower's destruction.

Coach Brian Kelly and the players have not been available for comment, but both the Notre Dame President and Athletic Director expressed their deepest sympathy toward the family and shock concerning the events.

Sullivan apparently tweeted within an hour of the tower's collapse "Holy [blank]. Holy [blank]. This is terrifying."

ESPN reported the team will honor Sullivan during their home game against Tulsa this weekend, but it is without question the midwestern football giant will take the field with heavy hearts.

What a sad, miserable situation. Our condolences go out to all those affected by this tragedy.
